Absolut Lighting – expressive designer lights with a modern character
Absolut Lighting presents innovative ideas in the field of lighting and living ambience. The light fixtures stand out for their minimalist design and the high practical benefits.
Clear design language meets cutting-edge technology
The Absolut GmbH was founded in Cologne by the architect Michael Rösing and the graphic designer Joachim Kliesen.
Already during his student days, Rösing created his first furniture and light designs in cooperation with Beate Friedhoff who later became his wife. Within only a short period of time, the small business expanded and as a result the company TAK was founded. The initialism TAK stands for technology, architecture and construction – the abbreviation is based on the appropriate German terms Technik, Architektur and Konstruktion – and represents the area of focus back then. This evolved into the Absolut GmbH and the sales areas in Cologne and Frankfurt. Some time later, a company building was constructed and the field of activity was expanded. Today the young company includes the successful brand Radius Design and the lighting concepts of Absolut Lighting.
The designs of the Absolut Lighting luminaires are based on the three foci function, form and feasibility. These are the pillars on which the creative company builds designer lights for companies and private homes. The designs are characterised by functional designs and minimalist forms. The conscious decision to avoid the use of any decorative curlicue and unnecessary embellishment skilfully draws the eyes to the essentials: user-friendly handling and needs-oriented lighting with a high luminous efficacy. A good example for this style are the WCF wall and ceiling lights. Their clear visual appearance with straight lines contains many useful details such as the continuously adjustable light head or the unusual round reflector made of a stainless steel.
However, the lamps by Absolut Lighting also stand for applied aesthetics and contemporary zeitgeist. This way, Michael Rösing together with his creative design team prepares light series characterised by a unique beauty and brilliance. Due to their appealing look they are very popular among business people as well as in the area of private homes. The Absolut Lighting 'Shining' lamp by Peter Buning won the "Nachtlux 2007"innovation competition for light design with its fascinating interplay of light and shadow. Another design, the Absolut Lighting 'Lampshade' lamp by Sebastian Bergne, was even included in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York. The key factors for these successes are the basic terms for high design art: keeping sight of what is important and the elaboration of tasteful, streamlined forms. The lights unfold their potential when they are installed individually as well as when they are arranged in a group consisting of several modules. Luminaires by Absolut Lighting are flexible, richly varied and always good for a surprise.
The Cologne company rounds off its company philosophy by means of excellent workmanship and the use of high-quality materials. When creating new designs, the designers always strike out in a new direction. The aim is to achieve the best possible result for the customer by continuously experimenting with different materials and the latest technology. The luminaire bodies made of stainless steel, glass or aluminium give the lighting ideas the final touch and emphasise the practical, clearly defined design ideas.
Absolut Lighting means knowing the existing requirements and possibilities of a room and perfectly harmonising the light composition.
