Sento - designer light from the very beginning
Sento is the original product from Occhio. Initially available with a socket for halogen lamps, the discreet designer luminaire with its flawless surface is now available with sophisticated, efficient LED technology.
The flagship of the Occhio family is the Sento Verticale - a purist wall light with uplight and downlight. The luminaire is available in fixed and swivelling versions and creates an impressive light silhouette on the wall. The light components can be switched separately and controlled using hand gestures.
In addition to the Sento Verticale, the product family also includes the Sento Parete wall light with a slender light arm. The collection also includes ceiling, pendant, floor and table lamps. The name "Occhio" (phonetic spelling: 'ɔkkjo) comes from the Italian and means "eye". Occhio is pronounced "okjo." The emphasis is on the first syllable.
Who founded Occhio?
Axel Meise (born 1962 in Düsseldorf) is the founder and chief designer of Occhio. Born in Munich, he was already developing lights for his own use as a teenager. He designed his first commercial lights while still studying mechanical engineering in the 1980s.
Shortly afterwards, he decided not to finish his studies and to turn his hobby into a profession instead. In 1999, he founded his company "Axel Meise Licht", which was later renamed "Occhio".
From the very beginning, the designer pursued an ambitious goal: he wanted to design a range of luminaires that would provide the right light for every area of life. This idea gave rise to the innovative Puro lighting system, which became a huge success. Since then, many more design innovations have followed, which have conquered the world market.
Today, Axel Meise is one of the most successful lighting designers in the world.
