Design

The Italian light manufacturer Catellani & Smith does an excellent job in presenting light with continuously changing aspects and forms. The Catellani & Smith Sweet Light Tavolo is completely dedicated to the presentation of this topic: the mesh consisting of delicate metal wires produces myriads of sparkling highlights and suffuses the surrounding area with a lively light full of highlights. The Sweet Light Tavolo is a unique table lamp – unusual and extravagant at the same time. Its creator, Enzo Catellani, developed the design concept of this extraordinary table lamp while he was preparing a light sculpture for the “Museo della Cartografia di Stato” in Rome. Although the final design looked completely different, the designer developed the original concept to create an extraordinary light series which includes the Sweet Light Tavolo table light.

Sweet Light Tavolo: softly diffused atmospheric light

The fascinating lighting effect of the Catellani & Smith Sweet Light Tavolo gives this spherical light an extraordinary look which makes a lasting impression of the viewer. The memorable lighting effect of this organically looking object is created by the metal wire which refracts and reflects the light thousands of times. In particular, this table lamp by Catellani & Smith impresses with its sophisticated concept: the sphere made of wire itself serves as a switch and a dimmer. The Sweet Light Tavolo is switched on or off by briefly touching it. If you touch it for a longer period of time, the light is dimmed. On the inside of the table light a G4 pin base is located which is fitted with a 12 V halogen lamp.

Sweet Light Tavolo – table lamps for mesmerising lighting

With a diameter of 10 cm the Sweet Light Tavolo perfectly fits onto each side table and sideboard. If you place it into a shelf, its mood light will also make it an elegant eye-catcher. Since the dimmer of the Sweet Light table lamp is directly in contact with the wire mesh it should not be placed onto metallic surfaces as this renders the dimming function inoperative. However, if placed on wood or glass surfaces, the table lamp by Catellani & Smith unfolds its full splendour.
