DesignDespite its rational and reduced appearance, the Northern Birdy floor lamp looks a little playful as it is reminiscent of a stylised birdy that puts its head down to drink. The design of the floor lamp by Northern was penned by Birger Dahl, a well-known Norwegian designer who was primarily active in the 1950s. The modern design of the Birdy received numerous awards, among others, the Gold Medal at the Triennale di Milano in 1954. This light source impresses by its cone-shaped lampshade that can be flexibly adjusted and that is attached to a filigree metal frame. A handle at the end of the hinged arm offers additional adjustment possibilities.
