With motion detector

Some of our solar lights incorporate a motion detector that turns the light on automatically when someone approaches. This increases safety and comfort and extends the running time to up to 10 hours. Other solar lamps are equipped with a spike and can be easily pushed into the soft soil to illuminate your flower bed, for example.

Do you want your solar lights to come on at a certain time? Then choose a light with a timer that you can programme as you wish. Solar lights with house numbers are recommended for your entrance area. They provide soft lighting in your entrance area and make the digits of your address easily visible in the dark.

If the wireless operation of solar lighting is particularly important for you, battery-powered lighting may provide an interesting alternative. These also function without cables and usually incorporate efficient LEDs. Unlike solar lights, however, battery-powered lamps do not use solar energy, but are usually charged via a USB cable. With their larger batteries, they can store more energy and therefore usually provide more light than solar lights. For this reason, a range of designs make perfect reading lamps. How do solar lights work?

Each solar light has a solar module, which consists of individual solar cells. These are mostly made of the semiconductor material silicon. The material converts the absorbed solar energy into electrical energy. When the sun's light falls on the solar cells, electrical voltage is created. The following applies here: The larger the area and the greater the amount of light that falls on it, the greater the amount of electricity produced. The energy generated in this way is stored in the battery of the solar light. As night falls, solar lights usually turn on automatically. Alternatively, many can be switched on or off by means of a switch or dimmer on the light.

What are the benefits of solar lights?

Since solar lights do not require electricity for their operation or for charging the battery, they represent an extremely sustainable lighting solution. Their cable-free operation also means that you benefit from a high degree of flexibility in application – there is no need to worry about power sockets, because solar lights do not need them.

LED solar lights also improve the appearance of outdoor area. Whether it’s the garden, terrace or balcony: The lights are a decorative eye-catcher and provide atmospheric light, which creates a feel-good atmosphere. From autumn you will also find solar lights available throughout the season for festive Christmas lighting. Last but not least, their integrated LEDs mean that you benefit from long-lasting lighting.

Where can I use solar lights?

In principle, you can use solar lamps anywhere you like. Because you don't need a power supply. Use them to provide a little orientation in the dark or to enjoy cosy LED light in the evening.

Table lamps are well suited for the garden table, while solar lamps with spikes are ideal for lighting the flower bed or box. Table lamps with handles are the perfect companion for an evening picnic by the lake or on a beach holiday.

Of course, you can also use your LED solar lights as interior lights to create a cosy ambience in the living room or bedroom. However, when charging, you should place the light outside to allow it to absorb sufficient solar energy.

How long is the run time of solar lights?

The amount of time that solar lamps emit light depends on several factors. The duration of the light depends on the power of the light and the capacity of the battery. Some LED solar lamps light up for a few hours, others for up to 20 hours. The majority of our solar lamps have a run time of approx. 4 to 10 hours. The brightness ranges from a few to several hundred lumens.

How long does it take for solar lights to charge?

How fast a solar light is charged depends on the weather conditions and the capacity of the

built-in battery. If the sun shines all day, your solar lamp charges up to five times faster than in cloudy skies or rain. In most cases, it is sufficient to charge the LED light outside during the day in order to enjoy the atmospheric lighting in the evening. Most solar lamps are charged after about 6 to 8 hours of bright sunlight. It takes a little longer (8 to 12 hours) if the sky is cloudy or it is raining.

Tip: When charging the battery, position the solar panel to face south and keep the light away from shadows if possible.

Please also note that you must fully charge an LED solar light before its first use.

Are solar lights waterproof?

As a rule, our solar lamps meet the requirements of ingress protection class IP44 at least. These lights are splash-proof, so they can withstand a bit of rain. However, we do recommend that you select a covered area for your solar lights.

If you want to place your solar light in a less protected location, it should have ingress protection class IP65 and therefore be resistant to water jets. In the case of recessed floor lights in particular, we advise you to use IP67-rated solar lights. These provide protection against temporary immersion.
