How bright should a reading light be?
To be easy on the eyes while reading and not to strain them too much, it is important that the light is bright enough. You should be able to see the text clearly without straining your eyes too much. Reading lights with a luminous flux of at least 300 lumens are recommended for this purpose.
It is important to consider individual needs and personal preferences when choosing your reading lamp. For example, the weaker your eyesight, the brighter the reading light should be. Orient yourself here to reading lamps with at least

.Which light source do I need for my reading lamp?
If you choose a reading lamp with a socket, for example E14 or E27, you can select a compatible light source. Here, we generally advise you to use LED retrofit lamps for energy-efficient and long-lasting lighting. In addition, you should make sure that the illuminant gives enough bright light and has a very good color rendering. To make illuminated colors appear as natural as possible, it's best to go for light sources with a color rendering index of at least Ra=90.

What light color should my reading lamp have?
Which light color, also called color temperature, is the right one for your reading lamp depends on your individual mood or the time of day. Because while warm white light with a maximum of 3,000 Kelvin has a cozy and relaxing effect, cooler light above 3,000 Kelvin has an activating effect on the human body.
So if you read during the day, study an important report for work or research technical literature, a cool light color is recommended. If, on the other hand, you are reading a book in bed or on the couch in the evening, warm white light is the better choice.

In general, we advise you to choose dimmable lights if you want to be considerate of your partner. This way, you can reduce the brightness if necessary.
Which reading lamp does not dazzle?
For a comfortable reading experience and lighting that is easy on the eyes, good glare control is essential. Therefore, choose a reading lamp with directional zone light that is glare-reduced by an opaque shade, for example.
It is important that it is not possible to look directly into the light source. As a rule of thumb, the brightest point should be the book and not the light source.
Which reading lamp is suitable for a child's room?
Reading lamps for children should meet the same criteria as all other reading lamps, i.e. they should provide directional, glare-free zone lighting.
Especially for young children who are just starting to read, however, certain safety criteria must be observed. In general, LED lights are recommended because they become less hot than incandescent and halogen lamps. Nevertheless, caution is advised, which is why the light source should be located out of the child's reach if possible.
In addition, we advise you to use children's room reading lights made of shatterproof materials such as wood or plastic. Models made of glass, on the other hand, are less suitable.
