Height adjustable hanging lights – variable pendant height for maximum flexibility

The right height is crucial for a pendant luminaire to achieve its full effect in the room. If the luminaire hangs too low above the dining or coffee table, it blocks the view of the person opposite or the TV; if it hangs too high, it can dazzle. Therefore, the pendant height should be well chosen. Maximum flexibility in this regard is offered by height-adjustable pendant lamps. Unlike most pendant lights, which you can shorten once at the cable before installation, height-adjustable pendant lights can always be readjusted as needed.

Some of our pendant lamps you adjust particularly sophisticated by means of invisible height adjustment. By simply moving the lampshade or pendant you regulate the height continuously. The cable then disappears into the canopy.

Very practical, especially for extendable dining tables, are height-adjustable pendant lamps, which are also extendable. Such dining table lamps adapt to the size of the table and thus provide uniform lighting.

Many of our height-adjustable pendant lamps are infinitely dimmable, whereby the operation is different. Gesture control is very intuitive: Here, simple hand gestures are enough to switch the lamp on and off or to dim the light. LED pendant lights with Casambi module prove to be very convenient. Multi-flame pendant lamps adjustable in height

In addition to single-flame pendant lamps, you can find multi-flame hanging lamps, whether with two, three or four light sources. Here, to illuminate long tables in the dining room, pendant lights with several flames arranged in a linear fashion are very suitable. How do I adjust the height of a pendant light?

There are several methods of adjusting the height of hanging lamps. One of them is draw pendulum with one or more counterweights. Here you can adjust the height by gently pulling the pendulum.

Other pendant lights have articulated arms, which you can adjust by hand to change the height of the light heads.

Another option for height adjustment in pendant lamps are telescopic arms that can be easily pulled in and out.

Very innovative is the invisible height adjustment. Here, the height of the lamp can be continuously adjusted by simply moving the lamp head or cable. This sophisticated mechanism is integrated in the canopy and is not visible from the outside.

In the case of pendant luminaires with cable suspension, you can attach the cables to the ceiling at will with the help of holding points. This allows you to adjust the lamp heads not only vertically, but also horizontally.

Sliding or extendable pendant luminaires can also be additionally adjusted in the horizontal plane. The latter are particularly practical above extendable dining tables, as they adapt to the length of the table.

What do I need to consider when adjusting the height?

Before you adjust the height of your pendant light, you should be sure what the mechanism is and how it works. Do you have to pull on the pendant, adjust an articulating arm, or can the light simply be pushed up or down like the invisible height adjustment?

How high should a hanging lamp hang?

For pendant lamps for the dining table, we recommend a distance of 60 to 70 cm between the table surface and the bottom edge of the lamp. This provides an unobstructed view of the person opposite, while also avoiding glare.

The right height of your pendant lamp in the living room depends on what purpose it serves. If you use the pendant lamp as coffee table lighting, it should be about 20 cm above eye level when you sit on the couch. For pendant lamps that hang centrally and freely in the living room as room lighting, you should allow for 210 cm to 220 cm of headroom.
