Artemide Tizio – flexible lighting ideas for living areas and workplace
Richard Sapper is responsible for the Artemide Tizio line that has advanced to become an icon of design. According to the German industrial designer who lives in Italy, he developed the legendary table lamp out of a lack of appropriate workplace lamps. Therefore he realised the Artemide Tizio
in 1972, an elaborated luminaire with extraordinary properties that made it into the permanent exhibitions of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and das Museum of Modern Art. A small lamp head directs its cone of light to the place where you want brightness. It can do this because of her two flexible arms featuring counter weights, so that, for instance, an Artemide Tizio 50 can be orientated in all directions. Even more: Once adjusted, the table lamp remains in that position. The assortment has more to offer. To avid annoying cabels, a table lamp
such as the Artemide Tizio 35 is fitted with a low-voltage halogen lamp so that the arms can be used as electrical lines.
But the functionally designed series of Artemide
does not just encompass table but also floor lamps. What all these classics under the designer lamps have in common is a high light yield, combined with flexibility and a long life span. With the Tizio family, Artemide offers – alongside practical, user friendly design – state of the art technology. For example by means of applying modern light sources like LED lamps. So, lamps like Artemide Tizio LED and Artemide Tizio Terra LED prove to be extremely energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
An Artemide Tizio doesn’t need much space and gives off anti-glare, trouble-free task lighting. Tizio 50 and Micro
belong to the group of table lamps. The Artemide Tizio 35 is a little smaller than the Artemide Tizio 50. Even more place saving is the Artemide Tizio Micro. All three versions of size feature a characteristic structure that Artemide Tizio
is typical of. It has a wide-ranging pendant arm balanced out perfectly through a counter weight. These freely movable arms make it possible to direct the lamp into the desired position with just one finger. A true eye catcher: The collector’s edition Artemide Tizio X30
made of high gloss polished aluminium, including a signature of designer Richard Sapper.
The Artemide Tizio Terra floor lamp features the same structure as the table lamp. Its flexibility and variable adaptiveness make the Artemide Tizio Terra a versatile floor and reading lamp. Available in the different version (and sizes) Tizio Terra 50 and Tizio Terra 35
If you wish more convenience: The Artemide table and floor lamp can be ordered as Artemide Tizio Plus or Artemide Tizio Terra Plus – with an infinitely adjustable dimmer and head that is tiltable to the side.
