In the living room, the coffee table often forms the centre of the room and this needs to be appropriately highlighted - ideally with a coffee table lamp. Various types of light are available for this purpose. Which lights are the right ones depends on whether you want to illuminate your living room table or whether you want to create an atmospheric ambience on the coffee table.
If the former is the case, pendant lights are a good choice. They provide zoned light from above. You can also set the scene for your coffee table with arched lights. Table lamps that you place directly on the living room table are also a good choice. Special ceiling lights, spotlights and spotlights as well as wall lights and track systems are also suitable. If you want to create a particularly cosy ambience, we recommend compact rechargeable lights, candle holders or LED candles. They provide atmospheric light on the coffee table or side table.
At light11 you will find coffee table lamps in a wide variety of designs, from classic to modern. Many models are equipped with efficient LED modules and therefore score highly in terms of energy efficiency. Discover the selection and choose your new coffee table lamp!
Lighting types for illuminating a coffee table or a side table
In order to illuminate your coffee table, a wide range of lighting types can be considered. Especially for choosing a pendant light, there are a few criteria to be met for a coffee table illumination.
Arc lights are popular for lighting the coffee table
With their long, curved arm, arc lights are predestined for coffee table lighting. This is because they can be aligned so that the lamp head is centred above the table, bathing it in direct zone light. Arc lamps are available as floor, ceiling and wall lights. The former are independent of a ceiling outlet and only require a socket for the power cable. Ceiling lights require a ceiling outlet, although this does not have to be centred above the coffee table. Wall lights are available both with a cable for the socket and for wall outlets.
A particular highlight of LED coffee table lamps is their excellent energy efficiency. A very high amount of light is achieved by using a lot less energy, compared to a halogen or incandescent lamp. What is more, the extremely small size of LED modules allows to create new types of forms. As a result, you can discover, among others, delicate coffee table lamps with a very flat lamp head.

What do I need to consider when buying a pendant light?
Which pendant lights are suitable for the coffee table?
Which pendant lamp is right for your coffee table depends what kind of effect you want from the lighting. If you want to illuminate the living room table directly, a pendant luminaire with downward-directed zone light that directly illuminates the table surface is recommended. If you choose a pendant light that not only emits its light downwards but also towards the ceiling, you will also benefit from soft ambient light. Indirect light is also provided by pendant lights with reflectors.
At what height should a pendant lamp be suspended above the coffee table?
It is important that the pendant light does not interfere with your visual field when you are seated. After all, you want to see your vis-à-vis or the TV set without any problems. This is why the pendant light should be suspended at least at 150 cm above the floor. If it is placed too low, for example at eye level, you cannot make out other persons very well. If your ceiling is very low, we rather recommend ceiling or wall lights for your coffee table. For rooms with high ceilings, floor lamps and pendant lights are a very good lighting solution – and a stylish eyecatcher.
