Flos 2097 - charming re-edition for prestigious room lighting

With Flos 2097, Gino Sarfatti reinterpreted the classic Murano glass chandelier in 1958. The Italian revolutionised chandelier design by turning the light sources into decorative design elements. Today, the re-edition of the lamp exudes retro charm. Depending on the coating chosen for the exposed light sources, it provides atmospheric or clear ambient light.

The Flos chandelier is characterised by the attractive contrast of elegantly curved lines and a robust steel construction. The latter forms the base of the luminaire body. Starting from the vertical steel tube, the flames project into the room on several levels. The lamps are powered by curved cables that act as a design element.

Whether in the living room or entrance area: the pendant light from Flos provides uniform lighting and an extraordinary eye-catcher in various rooms.

The chandelier from Flos is available in different versions. The 2097-75 is a new version with slightly larger light sources. In addition to brass, black and chrome, all versions of the 2097 are now also available in white. You can find out more about the new products in our FAQ.

Gino Sarfatti - a visionary who was always ahead of his time

Gino Sarfatti (1912 - 1985) is considered one of the most important Italian industrial designers of the 20th century. Born in Venice, he moved to Genoa, Italy, in 1930 to begin his studies in aerospace engineering. However, political and financial circumstances forced him to interrupt his studies. At the age of 23, he moved to Milan, where he discovered his passion for engineering and lighting design.

In 1939, Sarfatti founded Arteluce - a company for innovative lighting solutions, which he sold to Flos in 1973. The designer was known for working with materials that were unusual for luminaires at the time. In the early 1950s, for example, he built luminaires made of Plexiglas and used halogen lamps early on.

Which Flos 2097 lights are new?

The newest member of the family is the Flos 2097-75 - the largest luminaire in the product range. It measures 130 cm in height and 145 cm in diameter and has a total pendant height of 600 cm. The new pendant light includes 75 light sources, which are slightly larger than the light sources of the other 2097 lights.

In addition, every model of the Flos 2097 is now also available in white. The colour gives the chandelier a modern touch and blends stylishly into various interiors.

Which light sources are suitable for the Flos 2097?

The light sources are a central design element of the Flos 2097 and therefore have a strong influence on the design. This is why they are included in the delivery. This means you can be sure that the light sources are not only compatible with the chandelier's sockets, but also match the design perfectly.

The lamps included are

Bulb with E14 base in bulb shape, type (CO)

, optionally in clear or matt. These are also available in our online shop. This means you can easily replace old bulbs in the chandelier with new ones. The light sources supplied with the 2097-75 chandelier are slightly larger. You can also find suitable replacement bulbs here.
