The term boho comes from the word bohemian (French for unconventional). It was first coined in the 15th century and formed as a social scene in Paris in the mid-19th century. Artists, writers and philosophers rebelled against the bourgeoisie of the time and founded a creative, unconventional lifestyle with a focus on freedom, joie de vivre and informality. In the 60s, the hippie movement picked up the term again and coined it with their love of nature and ease.
