Where do I place or hang an arc light?
Arc lamps are versatile and especially popular for lighting the dining or coffee table, or even the reading corner. Floor lamps should be placed so that the cable does not become a tripping hazard. Also, make sure that the lamp does not block the walkway or obstruct the view of the TV. It is also important that you can operate the arc lamp comfortably. This can be achieved, for example, by having an easily accessible switch or dimmer on the shade or arm of the lamp.
One final tip: Plan enough space, especially for large arc lamps. The lamp should not "disappear" between several pieces of furniture, but should stand out well as a design object.
What height is recommended for arc lights?
The right height is crucial for pleasant lighting. If the lampshade hangs too low, it can impair the view of the person opposite or the TV. If it hangs too high, the light can be blinding. We recommend that you set up or hang arc luminaires for dining table lighting so that the lampshade is about 60 to 70 cm above the table surface.

Who invented the arc lamp?
The characteristic design of the arc lamp goes back to Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni. The brothers wanted to create a pendant lamp for table lighting, without the need for a ceiling outlet. While looking at street lamps, they finally came up with the idea for their design. Thus, in 1962, Arco was born – an arc lamp made of metal and with a marble base, characterized by its enormously large span. Arco is considered the cornerstone for all subsequent arc lamps and has long since become a design icon.
What are the arc lamp classics?
Besides Arco – the mother of all arc lamps – there are other design classics among arc lamps. These include the Elle arc lamp, which Tommaso Cimini designed in the 80s. The floor lamp is characterized by its particularly minimalist and filigree design, as well as its flexible adjustability. Also iconic arc lamps with high recognition value are lights such as the Twiggy Terra, Lady Costanza or Tolomeo Terra.
