Moooi Random Light - random design with an open structure
The unique design of the Random Light is left to chance. The shade of the lamp consists of a random arrangement of fibreglass threads. This means that no two products are exactly alike and each light is unique. You can find out more about the production of the Random Light in our FAQ.
In contrast, the design of the Non Random Light, also part of the Moooi luminaire family, is not random (Non Random) but fixed. However, this in no way detracts from the impressive appearance of the designer light.
The extraordinary Random Light luminaires by Bertjan Pot exude lightness with their fine appearance and open structure and are an attractive eye-catcher even when switched off.
Switch on the lighting and benefit from a unique play of light and a cosy ambience.
Random Light pendant lights for an impressive lighting atmosphere
The Random Light pendant lights emit diffuse ambient light and create a cosy ambience. They are available in different versions so that you can choose the model that suits you best.
The Random Light pendant light is characterised by the typical random lampshade structure and integrates an E27 socket, which you can fit with a suitable light source. The Non Random Light is also available with a socket, but has a non-random shade structure. This also applies to the two NR2 Random lights, which have energy-efficient LED modules.
The expressive pendant lights from Moooi are equally effective as soloists or as part of an ensemble. Whether suspended above the dining table or free-hanging in the living room or hallway: Thanks to the 400 cm long supply cable, the lights are ideal for rooms with high ceilings.
Random Light floor lamps for expressive room lighting
With the Random Light floor lamps, you get decorative furnishing objects and diffuse room lighting in one. The designer lights are available as Random Light and NR2. The latter is an LED luminaire with a non-random lampshade structure.
Both models blend into various interiors with their neutral colour tones and can be used in a variety of ways. The Moooi lights are infinitely dimmable so that you can adjust the brightness as required. If you opt for a floor lamp with a socket, make sure you use a dimmable light source.
Bertjan Pot - experimental and tech-savvy designer
Bertjan Pot (born 1975 in Niewleusen, Netherlands) studied at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. There he developed a passion for textiles and designed a woven lamp as his final project.
After graduating, he worked as a freelance designer and then founded the „Monkey Boys“together with his student friend Daniel White. The two developed lamps and furniture under this name before going their separate ways in 2003. Since then, the Dutchman has been working successfully in his studio Bertjan Pot.
The designer is known among his customers for his technical and equally intuitive way of working. The starting point for his designs is usually extensive material research. Pot likes to experiment with technique, structure, patterns and colours and loves to explore new possibilities. With a great deal of imagination and a keen interest in technology, he creates extraordinary products such as the Random Light.
Pot has also designed other lights for Moooi, such as Heracleum and Prop Light. The organic design of Heracleum is modelled on the inflorescence of an umbellifer and fascinates with a magical play of light. Prop Light, on the other hand, is characterised by its unusual structure made of HIPS plastic, on which transparent glass bulbs are arranged. Each glass bulb contains an LED light source and a conical PMMA light guide, providing uniform illumination.
Random Light is based on an ingenious principle: Bertjan Pot originally wanted to create a new structure for lampshades using fibreglass as the starting material.
However, he was not satisfied with the first result. The designer therefore took a few thin fibreglass threads, soaked them in epoxy resin and wrapped them completely randomly around an inflated beach ball.
Once the epoxy resin had hardened, he let the air out of the ball again. The result was a perfectly shaped lampshade that is still made in this way today.
