Fascinating lighting effects: Slamp Veli
Adriano Rachele has created the prize-winning Veli collection for the Italian lighting company
Slamp.
In 2012, the “Oscar of Design”, as the red dot award is also called, has been awarded to the
Slamp Veli ceiling light which received that seal of approval for quality and innovation. Indeed, the combination of outstanding design and enchanting lighting effect proves very impressive:
The diffusor of the
Veli ceiling lamp consists of Opalflex®, an exclusive material which is recyclable and patented by
Slamp. Luminous, opalescent and as attractive as glass, versatile and unbreakable as plastic, Opalflex® is a totally original mix of polymers and specific additives with unique properties for the emanation of light. The gradation of the colours, which is also brought about by serigraphic means, renders the lamps into luminous presences which create a specifically unmistakable atmosphere. In English, Veli means veil, shroud or gauze. When taking a closer look at this lighting fixture, it becomes clear that the
Veli ceiling light embodies all of those words. The Opalflex® has colored highlighting on its edges and is then formed to look like fabric with its gentle folds. With its soft character it also reminds of an artfully draped cotton ball.
At the same time, the antistatic-treated
Slamp Veli ceiling light provides even, diffuse light distribution out of its extremely light-conducting body. Moreover, thanks to its breathtaking design, it stages a charming lighting scenario that shows off to its best advantage in a bedroom. Very remarkable: Whether you decide on opal white, maroon, violet, grey, light blue, red or on the “Prism” version, the colour accents that emerge at the cut surfaces of the diffusor elements make for highly decorative effects – whereas the light of the
ceiling light remains pure. Mounting is also exceptionally easy: Three magnets keep the diffusor attached to the ceiling so that the replacement of light sources becomes a child’s play.
Comfortable mood lighting over the dining table in the dining room or over the coffee table in the living room is the is the core skill of the
Slamp Veli pendant light. This suspension lamp also catches the eye of the viewer immediately and delights him with atmospheric illumination. As an outstanding element of decoration which has been artistically crafted by hand, this

Slamp Veli Large ceiling light is the larger version of the luminaire mentioned first, featuring a diameter of 78 cm and exploiting its full potential in representative environments. With just 32 cm diameter, the Slamp Veli Mini ceiling light gives a small kitchen a gentle touch of extravaganza.
Slamp Veli lamps are used as wall lights as well. Additional information about the designer: Adriano Rachele was born in 1984 in Mulheim a.d. Ruhr, Germany. Following his degree in Industrial Design at the University of La Sapienza, Rome, in 2007, he began his collaboration with the design department of Research and Development at
Slamp, where he is has been responsible for the creation of new shapes and decors and experimented with new materials and techniques to develop novel lines of products. This experience has led to the birth of a number of important products which are intrinsically characteristic of Slamp values.
