Curling S Ceiling Light LED: timelessly beautiful glass objects

Design

The shade, made of precious hand-blown glass, is the hallmark of the Serien Lighting Curling S Ceiling Light LED. Every version of the ceiling light by the German light manufacturer Serien Lighting comes with a flat, cylindrical outer shade with an opening in the centre. Two of the four different versions are equipped with an additional reflector made of satin-finished glass, which evenly diffuses the light emitted. In order to achieve an even better lighting effect, the LED module of every Curling S Ceiling Light LED is upgraded by means of a specially cut optical insert. Furthermore, the Curling S LED has a practical side, too: thanks to a bayonet lock, the glass shade may be easily removed without using any tools.

Designer

Manfred Wolf and Jean-Marc da Costa designed the Curling S Ceiling Light LED in 2015 for the manufacturer Serien Lighting.

Curling S LED: economical light technology

The Serien Lighting Curling S Ceiling Light LED directs most of its light downwards while emitting a gentle shimmer to the sides. This special lighting effect is achieved by means of an optical insert and is further enhanced by a satin-finished shade. Furthermore, the lens ensures that the warm-white light of the Curling S Ceiling Light LED does not glare. In addition, the ceiling light by Serien Lighting impresses by its exceptional energy efficiency. It requires only 11 watts to generate a luminous flux of 800 lumens. The version with the satin-finished shade provides a little less light with approximately 700 lumens, which is still brighter than a conventional 60 watts incandescent lamp. Thereby, the ceiling light is beneficial to the environment as well as to the household budget.
