Secto Design – craftsmanship with Scandinavian charm
The founders of Secto Design, Tuula Jusélius and Seppo Koho, started out making high-quality wooden furniture until they realized there were no wooden lamps to match. So they decided to design some themselves. From the beginning, they had a clear goal in mind: the lamps should radiate harmonious light without being dazzling due to visible lamps.
Secto Design continues to implement this concept with great success to this day. The products are all handmade in Finland and produced under sustainable conditions. The focus is on PEFC-certified wood as the material – more precisely, birch with its strong, elastic fibers. While the light source itself remains hidden, the light clearly plays the leading role. It casts charming patterns that stand out on the walls or floor, creating fascinating illumination.
As a manufacturer of sustainable designer lighting, Secto Design strives to eliminate last traces of plastic in its packaging. Therefore, Secto Design invests in the Finnish start-up Woamy, which produces novel ecological cellulose-based foam material to replace plastic foam in packaging material.
Octo – architectural design, effective lighting
Like all Secto Design products, Octo is made of natural birch wood. The characteristic feature is the bulbous shape, which due to its open design, however, appears light and airy. Through the narrow wooden strips shines the soft light of the bulb, which is not visible from the outside, and creates a cozy atmosphere. The timeless pendant luminaire emphasizes the natural look of a wooden table or provides stylish contrasts to glass or high-gloss tables.
Secto – natural look, impressive light patterns
The Secto 4200 was the Finnish manufacturer's first luminaire, from which the entire collection later emerged. The Secto family now includes pendant, wall, floor and table lamps. The lamp made of natural birch wood is characterised by its elongated, narrow shape, which widens slightly towards the bottom. The combination of the soft light and the warmth of the birch wood creates a unique lighting atmosphere with a poetic feel.
