"I really enjoy turning sketches into wooden prototypes with my hands. Discovering a concrete solution for implementing a detail after persistent experimentation is a fascinating experience!"Seppo Koho, designer of the Octo
Octo is a classic from the house of Secto Design. The hallmark of the pendant luminaires is the bulbous body, which with its open structure seems almost architectural. The light shines through the slats, which creates a fascinating light pattern. At the same time, you benefit from very good glare control and targeted zone light. Responsible for this is the cleverly placed illuminant far up in the body, which is not visible from the outside.
The two single-lamp Octo pendant luminaires, which differ in size, are ideal for illuminating your dining or kitchen table. If your dining table is quite long, the two-flame pendant lamp is recommended. Ideal for decentralized lighting of your dining or coffee table is the Varsi wall lamp, for which you do not need a ceiling or wall outlet.
Like all Secto Design products, the Octo lamps are handmade in Finland. They are made of natural PEFC-certified birch wood, a natural raw material from Scandinavia. The interplay of natural wood and warm light creates a particularly cozy atmosphere at home.
Octo pendant luminaires for dining table lighting
With the two pendant lamps Octo 4240 and Octo 4241 you illuminate your dining or kitchen table and give the room a natural touch. This is ensured not least by the different natural colors in which the high-quality wooden lamps present themselves.
The difference between the hanging lamps is the size. The Octo pendant lamp 4240 is the larger model with a diameter of 54 cm and a lampshade height of 68 cm. In turn, the Octo pendant lamp 4241 is the variant "small". It measures 45 cm in diameter and comes to a body height of 55 cm. The 150 cm long cable can be shortened at the canopy of both Octo pendant lights.
The 2-lamp Octo 4241 pendant lamp is available exclusively at light11. With it you illuminate long dining tables or kitchen counters evenly. The luminaire can be assembled according to your wishes: So you can choose from several colors for the lampshades and also select the canopy in a preferred color and size.
The Varsi wall lamp from Secto Design is ideal for decentralized lighting of the dining or coffee table. It is individually configurable, so you can choose the color and shape of the shade according to your wishes, as well as the wall mount. Since the wall lamp has a cable, you do not need a wall outlet for operation.
Seppo Koho – Finnish design with an architectural touch
Designer and interior architect Seppo Koho, born in 1967, studied at the University of Art in Helsinki and at the Technical University in Tampere. He has his own studio and has worked closely with Secto Design since 1995. Initially, he designed furniture for the Finnish manufacturer. Since 2002, he has focused on lighting designs.
Characteristic of Koho's lighting objects is an architectural touch. His products are designed for both private and public areas. In the Finn's view, it is precisely this versatility that makes for good design.
Seppo Koho became interested in woodwork at an early age and still enjoys experimenting with the natural material. He makes his prototypes by hand himself, always pursuing one goal: to design luminaires that provide light that is both harmonious and glare-free. He has more than succeeded in this with his Secto Design lamps Octo and also Secto.
