Starck remembers having spent his childhood under his father’s drawing table sawing for hours, cutting, gluing, grinding with sandpaper; here, he disassembled bicycles, motorcycles and many other objects. Endless hours, almost a whole life he spent disassembling and reassembling anything and thus recreating the world surrounding him.
After many years and a lot of prototypes the Italians delegate to him the “responsibility” for Italian furniture, the French president Mitterrand entrusts him with the redesign of the Elysée Palace the Café Costes becomes Le Café.
