Which lights are best for the nursery?
Room lighting in the middle of the ceiling is the best way to provide soothing light in the nursery. Pendant or ceiling lights with diffusers are great choices here. You’ll also want to illuminate the area around the bed. Feel free to use a table, clamp, or wall light for this purpose. Schoolchildren also need desk lamps, while nightlights are recommended for toddlers.
Teenagers love smart home lights with adjustable colors. Using your smartphone or tablet, you can help them create a dynamic lit atmosphere in their bedroom.

Which nursery lights are the most modern?
When it comes to lighting technology, LEDs are the most modern solution for the nursery. Choose from children’s lights with built-in LEDs, or convert an existing light with an LED retrofit.
As for the materials, opt for the trendy natural look in wood, paper, or even fabric.
Tip: Timeless designs never go out of style, regardless of the age of your child. Neutral tones such as black or white are usually a good idea, as are monochrome colors. Think of creating lighting in a single family of colors, such as earth tones. By doing so, you’ll ensure your child enjoys his or her lighting for years to come.
Should I pay attention to anything in particular when buying nursery lights?
When it comes to nursery lights, safety is the number one priority for most parents. We’d therefore like to share some valuable tips and advice with you for safe lighting.
First things first: Lights aren’t toys – even if some of them are done in super cute designs. They should therefore never be operated by small children (or only in the presence of adults). In general, this rule applies to all lights.
Particular care should be taken with nursery lights that are powered by electricity (230 V) and have an E27 or E14 socket. This is because there is a risk of electric shock if used improperly. This can occur, for example, if the middle contact in the socket is touched when the bulb is turned out and the lamp is switched on. Therefore, only adults should replace illuminants.
LEDs are considered safer than incandescent and halogen bulbs as they produce significantly less heat and do not get as hot as their predecessors. However, LEDs can also reach high temperatures of up to 65°, which is why we recommend handling all light sources with care.
Battery-operated lights are particularly suitable for children as they are operated at a low voltage which eliminates the risk of electric shock. However, please keep in mind that rechargeable batteries can be damaged by strong physical forces (such as collisions), and in the worst case scenario burn or explode. These batteries should therefore also be handled with care. Small children should always be supervised when handling nursery lights.
As a general rule, all light bulbs should be kept out of the reach of small children. You will also want to make sure that your child cannot reach inside your table, floor, or wall lamps. Exposed light sources should be avoided in the nursery.
Finally, the materials also play a role in choosing the right lights for children. We recommend shatterproof lights made of wood, plastic, paper, or fabric. Luminaires made of glass or metal, on the other hand, are less suitable for the children's room.
Are lights with replaceable bulbs safe for the nursery?
Lights with sockets and replaceable bulbs are just as suitable for the nursery as lights with built-in LEDs. However, make sure your child doesn’t try to change the bulb on his or her own. Unless the light is powered off (plug, circuit breaker, etc.), your child could get an electric shock. Always remove and replace bulbs yourself with the light completely powered off.
