Design

The Northern Dokka pendant light is one of the best known lights in Norway. This is primarily the result of its simple as well as elegant form: its funnel-shaped steel shade is single-coloured and open to the bottom. Thanks to a gold-plated element at the narrowest part of the reflector, the minimalist design is elegantly emphasised. The Dokka pendant light was reissued by Northern in 2007 and is based in detail on the original design by Birger Dahl from 1954. This pendant light already wrote history in its early days as it was the first Scandinavian light to win the first prize at the renowned Triennale de Milano.

Dokka lights produce direct zone lighting

Thanks to the high-quality steel shade, the Dokka pendant light by Northern emits its entire light downwards. The white coating on the inner side of the lampshade makes sure that as much light as possible can escape downwards. This means that this pendant light is a classic zone light that supplies a tabletop with direct, glare-free light as well as pleasant light. The Dokka can be equipped with different illuminants. For an excellent colour rendering it is recommended to use a halogen lamp with a maximum power of 60 watts. For an energy-saving illumination, this pendant light can also be equipped with an LED lamp.

Dokka as a perfectly shaped dining table lighting

With its zone lighting directly emitted downwards, the Northern Dokka pendant light qualifies as an excellent dining table lighting system in the dining room. It highlights the tabletop as well as the food and drinks arranged on it, while the eyes are protected from any disturbing glare. This way, a cosy atmosphere during a joint dinner is created. Additionally, it produces a tasteful flair and serves as an unobtrusive highlight. Installed above the coffee table in the living room, the Dokka by Northern also impresses by its direct zone lighting and its minimalist shape.
