With its design reduced to the absolute minimum, the Lumina Daphine is one of the most popular Italian lighting classics. In 1975, Tommaso Cimini produced the first prototype of the luminaire. Thus, the legendary design was created five years before Lumina was founded.

Trademark of the iconic designer lamp is the black lacquered lamp base, which also serves as a transformer. This is joined by the graceful adjustable arm and the angular alignable lamp head. Thus, you benefit from flexibly directable zone light, making the lamp ideal as a reading or desk lamp.

In addition to the table lamp, the original version, there are now also floor lamps and a wall lamp as well as a battery lamp of the family. In addition, you get the Lumina Daphine also with integrated LED technology. For a very natural lighting, the LEDs score with their very good or brilliant color rendering.

Daphine Terra floor lamps for flexible reading light

The Daphine Terra floor lamps are ideal as reading lamps next to the armchair or couch in the living room. Placed next to the desk, the lamps provide directable zone light for working.

The Daphine floor lamp is available as a Classic and LED version. The former has a GY6.35 socket, which is supplied including bulb and is gradually dimmable. The latter integrates efficient LEDs and can be dimmed continuously using a touch dimmer.

How do I change the bulb in my Lumina Daphine?

If you have chosen a Daphine luminaire with a socket, proceed as follows to change the bulb:

Disconnect the lamp from the power supply and allow the still very hot lamp to cool down for approx. 10 to 20 minutes before starting the replacement.
If a protective glass is present, detach it from the holder towards the front. By the way, the protective glass is no longer necessary. In the past, it was used as UV protection, but today's lamps all have this protection.
Pull the lamp straight(!) out to the front. You may have to jerk it slightly, as the bulb may warp a bit due to the heat.
Insert the new bulb.

Can I convert my Lumina Daphine to LED?

Theoretically, it is possible to fit the GY6.35 socket of the Daphine with a compatible light source. However, we advise you not to do so for several reasons.

On the one hand, you should consider that the quantity and quality of light cannot keep up with the original product. Secondly, it is important to know that the transformer in the base of the lamp is designed for a much higher wattage. As a result, it may hum. Also, an LED head cannot be used for the Daphine without further ado, especially since the transformer must also be submerged in this case.

All in all, converting to LED in the case of the Daphine is not recommended in terms of cost. However, if you are planning to buy a new Lumina Daphine and you value extra efficient lighting, choose the LED version of the iconic designer lamp.

Can I repair my Lumina Daphine?

In fact, the repair of the Daphine is not so simple. This is because the original design focused less on sustainability and more on stability. Therefore, the individual components cannot be taken apart by yourself.
