Incomparable lighting effects by Luceplan Titania

Like a zeppelin of times gone by – that’s how a Luceplan Titania looks like a bit. But these pendant lights are far away from representing the past. On contrary: with their modern, clearly structured shaping and the bright, fascinating lighting effects, Luceplan Titania stands for innovative lighting design. The highlight of this collection is the colourful colour filters, which provide for special moments.

The Luceplan Titania is a modern and flexible lamp that offers contemporary design in the form of an oval-shaped capsule of ribbing. It gets its distinct impression from the depth and structure of the lampshade. Made of high quality synthetic material and precious aluminium, this feather-light fixture turns heads with its unique styling details that incorporate rounded ribbing surrounding the light source. The ball serves as a counterweight, allowing the user to easily adjust the height of the Luceplan Titania at any time. Colour filters in violet, blue, green, yellow and red are also available for the Titania light, allowing the user to easily change the hues of this versatile lamp for mood lighting, holidays or celebrations. Because these filters only change the colour cast onto the lamp itself, the light produced by the Luceplan Titania remains clear and white even when the filters are in place.

The Luceplan Titania series includes several styles of lamp that meet varied lighting needs. The Luceplan Titania Terra is a floor lamp measuring 160 cm tall, complements comfortable seating with excellent reading light. The delicate light dispenser features a slim, elegantly curved stem. Thanks to its low weight of just 5.5. kg, it proves impressively versatile and can be applied in all kinds of spaces. For example, on a desk in a workroom or at a couch or sofa in the living room, where it serves as a pleasant reading light. Plus: An integrated dimmer offers the possibility to regulate the intensity of illumination as you wish or need. For general purpose lighting, the Luceplan Titania Queen is a ceiling light that creates a bright and glare-free illumination that fills entire spaces and gives a dining room, kitchen or corridor an incomparable ambience. The Titania lamp colour filters allow the user to change the atmosphere of a room quickly and easily.

Titania lamps belong to the most popular items of the Italian manufacturer Luceplan. They have been awarded many renowned prizes such as Compasso d'Oro or Design Plus Award. The innovative fixtures are made of modern synthetic materials and noble aluminium. By means of a counterweight, the lamps Luceplan Titania lights can be adjusted individually in the height. And the included colour filters of polycarbonate give the lamps that special something.

At first he worked as a freelance in the fields of architecture, interior decoration and design. At the same time, he deepened his know how in illumination design and founded in 1978, together with Riccardo Sarfatti, the Luceplan company. Paolo Rizzattos projects have been presented at exhibitions all over the world and are part of permanent exhibitions of well-respected trusts and museums.

Alberto Meda has always been concerned with working out new solutions from innovative materials. The boundless possibilities afforded by modern technology are viewed by Alberto Meda as a "supermarket of creative possibilities", which he knows how to utilize in his designs with expertyl versatility. In 1986 Alberto Meda and Paolo Rizzatto together designed "Berenice", an elegant and delicate work lamp for Luceplan. Meda was born in Lenno, Tremezzina, Italy, in 1945. He studied at Milan Polytechnic until 1969. But unlike most Italian designers, Alberto Meda studied mechanical engineering there instead of architecture. Between 1973 and 1979, Alberto Meda was technical director at Kartell, where he was responsible for plastics technologies and furniture production. From 1979 he was self-employed as a designer in Milan. Alberto Meda was a technical design consultant for Brevetti Gaggia, the coffee-machine maker, and for Alfa Romeo (1981-1985).
