Kartell - when plastic becomes a trademark
The Italian company Kartell was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli. Even then, he laid the foundations for first-class design "made in Italy". However, the big breakthrough did not come until 50 years later: in 1999, Kartell was the first company ever to produce furnishing elements made of polycarbonate. Since then, the quality brand has impressively demonstrated how inexhaustible plastic is as a material. The highlight: sometimes the material looks like glass, sometimes like metal - but plastic is always used.
Wherever technology allows, the manufacturer uses sustainable materials. Kartell also relies on innovative industrial production techniques to reduce the impact on the environment. Because a responsible approach to our planet is a high priority for Kartell.
Kartell works with internationally renowned designers, such as Philippe Starck, and produces lamps for indoor and outdoor use. The manufacturer focuses on a wide variety of shapes and colors. This results in aesthetic, durable products that are produced in an environmentally friendly way.
Bourgie - magnificent design à la Baroque
With Bourgie, Kartell and designer Ferruccio Laviani have pulled off a real coup: The polycarbonate table lamp pays homage to the Baroque and exudes extravagance at its finest.
The base is decorated with distinctive scrollwork, while the ribbed plastic shade is reminiscent of a classic fabric shade and creates impressive lighting effects. Thanks to the dimmable light, Bourgie creates a cozy atmosphere in your living room.
Available in different colors and height-adjustable between 68, 73 or 78 cm, it is an extraordinary eye-catcher on tables or sideboards.
Battery - mood lighting with the wow factor
At first glance, the elegant luminaire appears to be made of glass, but it is actually made of polymethyl methacrylate. The mobile rechargeable lamp impresses with exciting light reflections. This is partly thanks to the artfully faceted lampshade, which resembles a precious crystal - the trademark of the Battery.
As it has an IP54 protection rating, the Kartell Battery can be used flexibly both indoors and outdoors. On a chest of drawers or garden table, it sets sparkling accents and becomes a stylish eye-catcher.

When charged, the Kartell rechargeable lights can be used wirelessly for several hours. The LED lights can be placed and used anywhere, regardless of whether there is a power socket nearby. The range includes both indoor and outdoor lights that add a magical atmosphere to your surroundings.
Kartell - innovative production processes and sustainable materials
As part of the "Kartell loves the planet" manifesto, the Italian manufacturer is focusing on sustainability and environmental awareness in lighting production. Kartell is developing a sustainability code with which the company aims to achieve 11 of the 17 development goals set by the United Nations for a more sustainable future. The manufacturer is incorporating the entire production chain as well as the distribution network.
Sustainable materials and innovative industrial manufacturing techniques are the starting point for production. In this way, Kartell reduces the environmental impact to a minimum, while at the same time maintaining the flawless craftsmanship and aesthetics of the products. Certificates confirm the low level of emissions during production.
Sustainable materials such as recycled thermoplastic, which is obtained from pure waste material, are used in production. By reusing production waste and turning it back into raw material, Kartell activates a positive circular economy process.
Another material used exclusively by Kartell is polycarbonate 2.0, a second-generation renewable polymer made from cellulose and paper waste. Like first-generation polycarbonate, it is characterized by its high fire resistance and elasticity and is easy to recycle.
