Hay – a perfect example of Scandinavian design
Some brands take decades to establish themselves firmly on the international market. Hay has succeeded in doing so in just a few years. Founded in 2002 by Mette and Rolf Hay, the Danish company has quickly become one of the most popular places to go for high-quality furniture, home accessories and lighting.
The vision remains the same today: to produce contemporary quality products that are affordable for a wide audience. For this purpose, the manufacturer collaborates with many talented designers, such as the London-based Sebastian Wrong. Hay's lamps convey a certain lightness and are characterized by their clear concept of form. Thus, they embody the typical Nordic style, which is all about functionality, reduction and understatement.
Matin – the summer says hello
Matin exudes the typical lightness of Hay products, thanks to its original design: with its pleated cotton shade and filigree metal rod, the table lamp by Inga Sempé is reminiscent of an ice cream or cocktail umbrella. Inside the shade is the LED bulb, which emits downward zoned light. This makes the Matin table lamp wonderful as an accent light for windowsills, shelves as well as sideboards. With its glare-free reading light, it also perfectly fulfills its purpose as a bedside lamp. Matin is available in many different colors – so it literally offers itself to combine several of the table lamps with each other.
Nelson Bubble – cocoon-like pendant luminaire for particularly soft light
Nelson Bubble is a design by George Nelson from 1947 and went into production five years later. The family of lamps is inspired by pendant lamps with silk coating, which were simply too expensive for the designer. He then unceremoniously designed his own collection, relying on innovative materials: he used a plastic spray, which he applied to molded steel frames. The result to this day are cocoon-like pendant lights that provide soft, diffuse and completely glare-free light above the dining or coffee table.
