Durable garage and carport lighting for good orientation light
To be able to orientate yourself safely around the garage and under the carport at any time, the right outdoor lighting is essential. You can ensure this with our carport and garage lights. With them, you benefit from optimal visibility at any time of day or night. At the same time, you create an inviting atmosphere in which you welcome yourself and others.
It is important that outdoor luminaires are robust and weatherproof and provide sufficient light that is as glare-free as possible. These criteria are met by various types of luminaires, from ceiling luminaires to recessed spotlights, whether for the floor, wall or ceiling.
Long-life LED luminaires are particularly recommended for saving electricity in garage and carport lighting. Luminaires with motion sensors that provide light when you need it are very practical. If you are looking for floor lamps for your garage or carport, we advise you to choose impact-resistant outdoor lamps that can be driven over.

Different types of luminaires for garages and carports
You can ensure good general lighting and thus safe orientation with various garage and carport luminaires. One popular option is ceiling luminaires that are mounted on the garage or carport ceiling to create a pleasant basic brightness. So you and your guests can find your way around easily at any time.
A very discreet lighting solution for garages and carports is provided by minimalist recessed spotlights. Recessed wall and floor luminaires are also practical.
Tip: If you use several (recessed) luminaires, space them evenly. This ensures that no dark zones are created and provides homogeneous lighting for your garage or carport.
Energy-efficient LED luminaires for carports and garages
To consume as little energy as possible, especially if your garage or carport lighting burns for several hours a day or at night, we advise you to use LED outdoor lights. They provide a lot of light with low power consumption and are therefore unbeatable in terms of light output.
Another advantage of LEDs is the high durability of the modules. Many high-quality products achieve a service life of 20,000 hours or more, which corresponds to about 13 years if they burn for 4 hours a day. The longevity of LEDs is underlined by the mostly high number of switching cycles - very useful if you often switch your garage and carport lights on and off.
Since luminaires for garages and carports are often only intended to provide light temporarily, models with motion detectors are a very good choice. They switch on automatically when you approach or park your car.
Ground recessed luminaires withstand extremely high weight loads. You can drive over the impact-resistant outdoor lamps with your car without hesitation.

How do I light garages and carports without electricity?
Solar lights are ideal for illuminating garages and carports without electricity. The battery-powered lamps are available, for example, as recessed floor, bollard or wall lights.
We advise you to always check whether the amount of light is sufficient. This is because the light output of mobile luminaires is usually lower than that of wired versions. Solar luminaires with more than 300 lumens are recommended.
What are the regulations on garage lighting?
For public areas, DIN EN 12464-1 regulates, among other things, the illuminance for garage lighting. For private areas, on the other hand, there are no specific regulations. However, we recommend that you always make sure that the usual criteria for outdoor lighting are met.
Here, the degree of protection in particular plays a major role. How high this should be depends on where your luminaire is located. For example, if you are installing recessed spotlights under your carport or a canopy, outdoor lamps with a protection rating of IP24 or IP44 are sufficient. Exposed façade luminaires, on the other hand, should have a protection rating of at least IPX5 to be protected against water jets.
Another tip: Switch different areas separately and protect each with its own residual-current device. In this way, you prevent the room from going completely dark in the event of a short circuit. In addition, such selective planning will help you find the cause of the fault more quickly if the outdoor lighting should ever malfunction.
