Foscarini Tress – expressive design lamps with pleasant lighting effect

The lighting series Foscarini Tress impresses by the elaborately shaped lighting body. Its appearance is ageless and extravagant at the same time and enlivens the space ambience with the interplay of light and shade.

The first thing one notices about the Foscarini Tress is the unique lamp shade. The Tress light features bands of composite material woven in a cylinder to create the shade. However, the weave is irregular, leaving angular gaps between the strands in the centre of the Foscarini Tress. The shade is available in three different colours, each of which creates its own mood. The white shade carries a subdued and discreet personality that will mesh well with both formal and casual settings. The black Foscarini Tress is bold and with a flair for the dramatic. In red, the Tress lamp sizzles with a pop of bold colour.

Foscarini Tress is a large family with lighting suitable for many different settings. The Foscarini Tress Terra is a beautiful floor lamp that adds interest and makes a great reading light when placed near a couch or chair. Perfect for end tables in the living room or bedside tables in the bedroom, the Tress Tavolo is a table lamp that dresses up a space with avant garde form. The Tress Parete is a wall lamp that creates a lovely interplay between light and shadows on the wall, perfect for hallways or as accent lighting - especially when arranged in a group. Tress Sospensione is a pendant light ideal for hanging over dining tables.

The Foscarini Tress series is a brainchild of Marc Sadler, who once said: “I like to experiment with different techniques and technologies to use in unusual applications, trying to obtain new and possibly pleasing effects.” Born in Innsbruck, Austria, and now living in Milan, Italy, Marc Sadler’s career began with a passion for technology and experimentation with new materials. One of his projects (a ski-boot in thermoplastic material) inspired him to work in the sports sector and, in 1971, he began collaboration with Caber, for which he later patented the symmetrical shell design which was to remain the most successful ski-boot of its kind for several years. First designing the Drop lamp for Flos, Sadler now has an ongoing creative relationship with Italian lighting company Foscarini.
