Garden for the senses: Flos Skygarden

Flos Skygarden contains two worlds in one. The underside of the Skygarden lamp exhibits romantic plaster relief from bygone eras, while the exterior is extremely sleek and modern.

Flos Skygarden is sure to draw attention from everyone who views it. The dichotomy present in the Skygarden pendant light is a lovely combination that is as unique as the materials used to make the luminaire. The exterior of the hemispheric Flos Skygarden is covered by a sleek and modern aluminium coating, which is available in a variety of colours like brown, black, white and gold, giving it a cool and modern appearance. Within the Flos Skygarden, a microcosm of floral themed plaster relief comes to light. The richly decorated interior is full of ornate design, including the cylindrical diffuser with delicate filigree pattern on the bottom.

Thanks to their elegant appearance, Flos Skygarden pendant lights sublimate every room. Their ornamentation provides exciting lighting effects captivating the fascination of the viewer. Flos Skygarden makes a dramatic impression wherever it is placed. Because all of the light is directed downwards, it provides ideal zone lighting. The Skygarden light beautifully hangs from the ceiling over a dining table, where it bathes the setting in warm, soft light while offering its own suspended bouquet. Flos Skygarden can also be used in the living room, for example to illuminate the coffee table and create a cosy seating area.

Skygarden S1 and Skygarden S2 are works of art made of plaster and with an outer shade of high quality aluminium. One again, four different finishes are at your disposal – matt brown, golden, glossy black and a white liquid coating. With its zone lighting, the Flos Skygarden S1, a work of the Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, atmospherically illuminates tables in kitchens and dining rooms. Moreover, a Skygarden pendant light always represents a charming eye catcher that visually upgrades the whole room. Even more impressive: The Flos Skygarden S2 with a diameter of 90 cm. Both pendant lights are also available as economic versions: Flos Skygarden S1 Eco and Skygarden S2 Eco are operated with energy efficient compact lamps, also known as energy saving lamps.

Ceiling decoration shining charismatically is what you will get when you opt for the Flos Skygarden Recessed. With its inner stucco appearance, this ceiling lamp is as enchanting as the fixtures mentioned above. It also enjoys cult status among design enthusiasts and belongs to one of the most demanded lights of the Flos range. The luminaire is delivered inclusive a 12V halogen lamp. The Skygarden Recessed ceiling light features a width of 41 cm, a diameter of 30 cm and a mounting depth of 22,5 cm. Its hemispherical diffuser consists of gypsum, the inner side if painted white. The lighting body is made of hand blown opal glass. The bracket is manufactured out of high quality aluminium.

Additional information about the design: The motivation behind the creation of the Skygarden, was the desire of designer Marcel Wanders to take a piece of his former home with him to his new house. His former home had contained an unusual, gypsum patterned antique ceiling which he had called his Sky Garden. Upon moving, he had been unable to leave this amazing gypsum design feature behind and eventually took a tool and cut it out of the ceiling to move to his new house. The rest is history.
