Fabbian Beluga: Superior lights and lamps for many applications

A nicely shaped spherical diffuser that can be adjusted in all directions and thus provides customized illumination is the trade mark of the Fabbian Beluga series. The application of high quality materials like polished aluminium and lead crystal for the manufacture of lamps clearly underlines the high standards set by Fabbian, the venerable Italian company from the near of Venice.

Whether a petite table lamp or a multi-lamp pendant light: The adjustable round diffuser is always the distinguishing feature of Fabbian Beluga lights. These are in general freely adjustable, i. e. rotatable by 360 degrees. So you can direct the light as desired. In doing so, the surface of the head varies according to the version: Fabbian Beluga Steel is characterized by a structure of shiny chrome. Fabbian Beluga Colour offers fresh colours like red, blue, copper and green, whereas Fabbian Beluga White comes in a decent white and thus attracts the attention in a more subtle way.

The latter edition is aptly exemplified by, for example, Fabbian Beluga White wall-/ceiling light. This small luminaire is ideal when it comes to emphasize certain home furnishings like a painting, sideboard or a shelf. With its appearance that reminds of an old diving helmet, the Fabbian Beluga Alu floor light plays a special role in the Fabbian Beluga series. Out of an impressive lighting body comprising a mixture of extroverted design and a fascinating lighting performance, it casts a no less impressive cone of light at the living room or hallway wall and gives these spaces an outstanding distinguishing feature.

The design of Fabbian Beluga lamps is a brainchild of Marc Sadler – the French star designer who has created world famous lights such as the Foscarini Mite or Twiggy. Marc Sadler once said: “I like to experiment with different techniques and technologies to use in unusual applications, trying to obtain new and possibly pleasing effects.” Born in Innsbruck, Austria, and now living in Milan, Italy, Marc Sadler’s career began with a passion for technology and experimentation with new materials. One of his projects (a ski-boot in thermoplastic material) inspired him to work in the sports sector and, in 1971, he began collaboration with Caber, for which he later patented the symmetrical shell design which was to remain the most successful ski-boot of its kind for several years. First designing the Drop lamp for Flos, Sadler now has an ongoing creative relationship with Italian lighting company Foscarini. This partnership resulted in the birth of Twiggy in 2006.
