To determine the amount of light, watts is no longer the relevant quantity. Rather, you should use the lumen value as a guide for this. For comparison, a 75-watt incandescent lamp has a luminous flux of about 1,000 lumens. A modern LED lamp with the same amount of light consumes just 8 to 10 watts.
The ideal amount of light in lumens for dining room lamps depends on their intended use. If you would like to know how many lumens you need for dining room lighting, feel free to check out our
chart.
If you want to specifically illuminate an area such as the dining table, we recommend about 700 lumens per square meter of area. This value is thus a good choice for lighting a 120 x 80 cm dining table with a table surface of 0.96 m². Larger tables, on the other hand, usually require multi-flame dining room lights that evenly illuminate the table surface. Here, each flame should have at least 700 lumens.
