for Cini&Nils Special: 2x Cuboluce
One significant factor for the huge popularity of the Cini&Nils Cuboluce table lamp, a real classic from 1972, is its charming design, on the one hand. The Cuboluce presents itself in the form of a cube and therefore ensures an aha effect – the second factor becomes visible after switching on this table lamp. The stylish eye-catcher created by Franco Bettonica and Mario Melocchi which is also ideally suited as a present is part of the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and is also represented in the Design Museum of the Triennale in Milan.
The design of the Special: 2x Cuboluce was penned by Mario Melocchi and Franco Bettonica who created the Bedside table lamps in 1972 for the manufacturer Cini&Nils.
The unique emission of light is the second reason for the high popularity of the Cuboluce from Cini&Nils. The sophisticated functionality of the twin lights is definitely noteworthy: as soon as the cover of a Cuboluce is opened it starts shining brightly. Closing the cover makes the light go out. Consequently, this table lamp emits a different amount of light depending on the opening width. Slightly opening the Cini&Nils Cuboluce means that this luminaire ensures atmospheric mood lighting. However, further opening the cover allows this light to supply zone lighting that effectively highlights different objects depending on the alignment. Thanks to its convenient use, you no longer have to search for the light switch. The double-wall construction, the insulating layer of air and 331 ventilation holes make sure that the Cini&Nils Cuboluce will not become hot even after a long operating time.

The table lights are, for instance, ideally suited to highlight a shelf or a sideboard, e.g. in the dining room. Its reflective cover may also be used to direct the light onto a book. In this context, the Cini&Nils Cuboluce can be placed on a side table in the living room where it ensures an enjoyable time while reading. The same applies to the bedroom, where it can be seated on a bedside table. Here, this compact duo (each 11 cm in height, 10 cm in width and in depth) ensures absolute equality if one piece of this light is placed on each side of the bed – this way, these luminaires ensure needs-oriented reading light. The original, slightly playful designer light – and particularly the multicoloured version – is also a popular solution for the children’s room where its warm-white light illuminates toys or comics.
