How many ceiling lights do I need?
How many lamps you need for the ceiling depends on a variety of factors, including the layout and size of your room and the lumen package of each fixture.
As a general rule, however, the larger, more elongated, and more angled a room is, the more light sources you'll need. However, these should not just be ceiling lights. A lamp mounted centrally on the ceiling is quite practical, but should always be supplemented by other lights in the room. In this way, you achieve accentuated lighting with several islands of light and create a lively room atmosphere to feel good.
How many lumens should my ceiling lamp have?
Choosing the right lumen package is less about a single fixture and more about the overall lighting in the room. For this, feel free to take a look at our room lighting table to find out how many lumens you need.
Tip: Especially if you choose a lamp mounted centrally on the ceiling, we recommend a dimmable model to create an atmospheric ambience if needed.
What ceiling luminaires provide indirect light?
You can achieve indirect lighting with ceiling lamps that cast their light to the ceiling or direct it against a reflector. The result is a cozy, completely glare-free room lighting, where the light source is not visible. This creates a comfortable feel-good atmosphere, whether in the living room or bedroom, in the hallway or in the dining room.
Even in the dining room, you can create an atmospheric ambience with ceiling lights that provide indirect light. However, especially for dining table lighting, we recommend luminaires with direct zone light that illuminates the table without glare from above.
With indirect ceiling lighting, you set the scene for your ceiling and visually enlarge the room. This is because brightly illuminated surfaces appear more open and farther away, giving the impression of a higher ceiling.
What ceiling lamp is suitable for a wooden ceiling?
In principle, almost all ceiling luminaires are suitable for mounting on a wooden ceiling, unless the manufacturer prohibits it. It is important that the luminaire corresponds to the load-bearing capacity of the ceiling or the dowels. Therefore, always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
