Elegant purism meets individual functionalism: Flos Compass Box

Flexible illumination in harmony with clear, sober design is the distinguishing feature of Compass Box lighting fixtures by the Italian manufacturer Flos.

The Flos Compass Box is available with 1, 2 or 4 bulbs and provides symmetrical light distribution. The downlight can be applied anywhere in the living space where directional illumination is desired. This flexible use of light is made possible by a cardanic alignment system which allows a rotation in any direction of up to 40°. So you will be in the comfortable situation to direct the moveable light sources of the Flos Compass Box 1 exactly to the place where you wish something to be highlighted effectively. The precise zone lighting is ideal for highlighting art and objects in the space. For example, the Flos spotlight is especially well suited for illuminating shelves and cabinets as well as pictures and sculptures in the living room. The minimal design ensures that the light itself does not detract from the overall ambience. Depending on the used illuminant, the Flos ceiling lights, which by the way are also appreciated as wall lamps, emit their light in a different beam angle.

Focused minimalism in combination with precise functionality is also provided by the Flos Compass Box 2 ceiling light. The luminaire offers tailored illumination out of two bulbs, here again a clever lighting system allows each of the lamps to be rotated up to 40 degrees in any direction. The optic housing is made of black pressed steel, the rugged Flos Compass Box features an outer shell and mounting system made of cast aluminium, which is available in a number of finishes: matte white, anodised aluminium, black, teak, wenge or beech.

With its four individually adjustable bulbs, the Compass Box 4 is highly versatile. It features an adjustment system that allows the bulbs to be rotated 40° in all directions. The outer structure and fastening system are made from cast aluminium; the casing of the optical system is made from black painted pressed steel. The Compass Box 4 H135 QR111 is a lighting fixture that sets the impressively bright stage for a sideboard in the living room or a cabinet in the bedroom. But the focused zone lighting also provides a considerable amount of general lighting so that the Compass Box 4 can be used as ambient illumination as well. This task can also be accomplished in a masterful way by the Flos Compass Box Square. Its four spot lights, arranged as a square, supply comfortable, expansive general lighting and put the focus on highly appreciated home furnishings.

Additional information: In 1998, Flos established a Joint Venture with the Spanish design lamp company Antares Illuminación. In 2006, the Flos Compass Box emerged from this cooperation under the label of Flos Architectural.
