Artemide Demetra

Glare-free LED lighting combined with elegant design

Purist design, flexibility and up-to-date LED technology are the trademarks of the Demetra. Thus, these lights by Artemide serve as elegant design objects as well as highly functional lighting sources.

Naoto Fukasawa took the initial step in 2012 when he designed the Demetra table lamp for Artemide. The table light acknowledged with the renowned Red Dot Award embodies the ideal desk light: the delicate arms together with the pivotable and rotatable head direct the light exactly to where it is needed. Thus, you always make sure that documents are illuminated in a way that is easy on the eyes, which has a highly positive effect on the concentration and performance capacity. If the light emitted by the Demetra turns out to be too bright or if the lighting level is insufficiently low, the light intensity can be adjusted according to your personal requirements by means of the integrated dimmer. A rope pull system that was already used for the legendary Tolomeo table lamp ensures that the seemingly petite table light always has a secure standing. To make sure that the Demetra does not consume too much power even when in constant use, its light head is equipped with high-performance LED lamps that convince with a high luminous efficacy and a low energy consumption: 9.5 W are sufficient for the LED lamps to produce about 400 lumens, which almost corresponds to the light output of a 40 W incandescent lamp. And last but not least, the Artemide Demetra becomes a special highlight in the office thanks to its elegant appearance.

The great success of the Demetra lead to the introduction of further models. In addition to the switchable version with a matt white surface, Artemide launched a limited special edition on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of light11.de that is available with a particularly elegant white aluminium / silver finish. A version that is ideally suited for being used in the living room, is the Artemide Demetra Lettura. This table lamp also convinces with a needs-oriented lighting and elegant design. It can be placed next to an armchair or a sofa, where this floor lamp turns out to be a great reading light that can be adapted to the personal requirements of the user and thus ensures that you have a relaxing while reading a book. If there is still some space next to your bed, the Artemide light can also serve as a bedside table light that makes sure that you do not miss a word while reading a thriller or a novel.

Speaking of space: is your desk too small or is there a lack of space, it is recommended to purchase a model with a practical fixing bracket or a table clamp which can be easily attached and allows you to work efficiently without taking up any of your working space. If you do not want your table light to be attached to your desk at all, a Artemide Demetra Parete should be considered. The wall light stays away from your desk and treats you with adjustable, energy-saving warm-white LED light while being attached to the wall. This version is also a good choice when it comes to providing reading light next to your armchair, the sofa or the bed. Even more space-saving is the Demetra Faretto as it is the only member of the light family that dispenses with light arms. However, the characteristically flat head can be easily adjusted – as we know it from its siblings – and thus ensures a target-oriented lighting.

Additional information on the designer: Naoto Fukasawa was born in the Japanese Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956 and is considered as one of the pioneers of minimal design. The artist strives for a composition that waives any kind of design that seeks for attention at any price and instead makes a certain unobtrusiveness the dominant feature. Consequently, this means that his works should not impose themselves on the viewers but should rather impress them with their unostentatiously elegant appearance and usefulness – as is impressively demonstrated by the Artemide Demetra lights.
